We have
often heard dancers ask how they can move up into advanced
round dancing. The hard way is to go to an advanced dance,
take the teach, try what sounds do-able and expect to sit out
the rest. That process takes a long time and can be
discouraging. We know; we’ve been there. |
Our transition
class is designed to help you bridge that gap between where
you are and where you want to be. Because it has a clinic-type
format, it is also designed as a brush-up for advanced
dancers. |
We use classic
dances that are still being danced. We teach the figures in
such a way that you will be able to do the dance but also
recognize and be able to dance the individual figures when you
hear them cued in other dances. |
We work on the
concept of “layering.” Those new to the footwork have time
to work on the basics, and those who come to brush up can work
on technique and styling. |
Developing your
dancing is like building a house. Every house must have a
foundation. The walls go up and some engineering is required
to make it all fit together. Some dancers only want to go that
far. |
Others want to get
to the inside of the house and begin placing the décor. This
is what makes a house a home. |
Practice on the
basics strengthens the foundation while we add to the frame
and begin “decorating” with styling. |
